
KENNEWICK, Wash. – The Tri-City Water Follies is revving up for its annual Spring Testing event on Saturday, May 17, 2025, at the Columbia River.
The free event kicks off the hydroplane racing season with test runs, local food, and live music.
Since 1966, the Tri-City Water Follies has been a beloved tradition, drawing thousands to the Columbia Cup hydroplane races each year.
The Spring Testing event gives fans a sneak peek at the racing excitement in a festive atmosphere.
“We are happy to kick off the 60th year with spring testing and look forward to celebrating the 60th Anniversary & Gold Cup in July,” said Barb Keltch, Board President.
Attendees can enjoy hydroplane test runs, explore local food trucks and enjoy music near the Columbia Park Band Shell from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
The day concludes with a free concert at 6:15 p.m. featuring Queen’s Gate, a local band known for classic rock hits.
Parking opens at 8 a.m. for $5 per vehicle, benefiting a local Scout Troop.
Visitors should note the following closures from May 16-18, 2025, including partial closure of Columbia Park Boat Launch and full closure of Lampson Pits and Wade Park Boat Launch on May 17.
