NEW YORK, N.Y. – Times Square will experience a unique celebration as the famous New Year’s Eve ball will drop twice in 2026.

The second drop will mark the nation’s 250th anniversary.

This will be the first time a second ball drop occurs since the tradition began in Times Square on New Year’s Eve in 1907.

After the initial drop on New Year’s Eve, the ball will illuminate with red, white and blue, showcasing an “America 250” design.

The second drop is scheduled for July 3, the night before Independence Day, adding a historic touch to the celebrations.
