Theft at Spokane nonprofit threatens holiday support for families

SPOKANE, Wash. – A local nonprofit in Spokane is facing a setback after a theft was caught on camera. Video footage posted on Facebook by “Our Place” shows a man breaking into a Christmas shed and stealing all of their holiday gifts.

These gifts were donated throughout the year to support families in need. Reports have been filed, and law enforcement is currently investigating the incident.

The nonprofit emphasized that if the thief had simply asked, they would have been willing to help. Now, they are reaching out to the community for assistance in recovering the stolen gifts and to continue their holiday support efforts.

On Facebook, the nonprofit expressed their disappointment.

“Our hearts are broken and we are so discouraged. If he had come to us and asked for things, we would have given the shirt off our back as we very often do. This is a massive setback for our holiday giveaway in December,” the statement read.

Spokane City Councilman Michael Cathcart also commented on the incident, calling it “incredibly infuriating.”
