
SPOKANE, Wash. – Wind knocked out power to thousands of people throughout the Inland Northwest, with outages continuing Thursday morning.
The National Weather Service reports gusts of nearly 70 miles per hour in Spokane and nearly 60 miles per hour in areas near Coeur d’Alene.
As of 5:30 a.m. Thursday, Avista reported more than 54,000 people were without power with outages extending from Pullman up to the Canadian border.
By 9:45 a.m. Avista said nearly 39,000 customers are in the dark.

Inland Power and Light reported by 9:45 that 2,100 customers didn’t have power.
Kootenai Electric says nearly 8,500 were without power early Thursday morning.
Northern Lights says more than 13,000 are without power in its service area, adding that BPA has lost power to a transmission circuit serving customers north of Sandpoint through Boundary County and across all of Lincoln, Montana.
