SPOKANE, Wash. — SWAT and Spokane police are on the scene of a standoff after a reported shooting in Spokane’s West Central neighborhood.
According police, a neighbor called 911 after hearing gunshots inside the complex. Police said that the person inside is a man, but no injuries have been reported and the motive remains unclear.
According to SPD, the man has been “shouting out of his window and won’t come out.” Neighbors told NonStop Local KHQ they heard two gunshots and before that, the man yelling that he was going to kill himself and others. They say he lives alone.
Crews on scene report the smell of smoke coming from the area.
Police said that the standoff has lasted more than two hours. SWAT, Spokane police, Spokane Fire Department crews and AMR are all on scene.

A heavy police presence has been reported in Spokane’s West Central neighborhood.
Spokane police units and SWAT were seen in the area of the 1500 block of West Sharpe Avenue, though it is not yet clear what prompted the response.
NonStop Local KHQ has crews on scene working to gather information. Spokane police have not yet responded to inquiries regarding the incident.
Police also appear to be closing off traffic on the Maple Street and Boone Avenue intersection.
