SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A suspected impaired driver led Spokane Valley deputies on a high-speed chase before being caught on foot, according to the Spokane Valley Sheriff’s Department.

On December 6, 2025, at approximately 9:40 p.m., deputies observed a silver Chevrolet Equinox without a front license plate on Broadway Avenue, near N. University Road. The driver, identified as 46-year-old Kenneth W. McBride, appeared impaired.

Deputies activated their emergency lights for a traffic stop. McBride initially pulled over but then fled at high speed. Deputies pursued him but lost sight of the SUV as it turned onto Pines Road.

Minutes later, a caller reported the Equinox in the Valley Hospital parking lot. Deputies found the vehicle unoccupied and learned McBride had fled on foot. He was located near Pines Road and Nora Avenue but ran when approached.

After a brief chase, McBride surrendered and was taken into custody. The passenger, who was detained and later released, said McBride fled because he had warrants.

McBride admitted to fleeing due to outstanding warrants and fear of withdrawal in jail. Deputies suspected impairment and obtained a search warrant for a blood sample.

McBride was booked into Spokane County Jail on charges including attempting to elude a police vehicle, DUI, and resisting arrest. His bond was set at $10,000 by Superior Court Commissioner T. Chavez.
