According to Spokane Police Department (SPD) Public Information Officer Daniel Strassenberg, a suspect is confirmed to be in custody after being arrested around 9 a.m. on Thursday morning.

Strassenberg stated that the suspect, reportedly a resident at the apartment complex, is being charged with murder and could appear in court as early as Friday.

Neighbors at the complex were credited for pointing law enforcement in the right direction to make the arrest, after notifying SPD about the gunshots around 11 p.m. on Wednesday night.

“Officers responded and located the involved apartment, and unfortunately we found two deceased subjects inside,” Strassenberg said. “As the investigation started to unfold, additional information came in that a possible suspect was in an apartment very near to where the officers were at. Obviously, for safety reasons, we vacated the apartment…we set up containment.”

SPD is expected to release more information once formal charges have been filed against the suspect.
