Corporal Mark Gregory of the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO) reported that the suspect has been taken into custody following the SWAT standoff near South Park Road.

The incident began around 12:30 p.m., when Spokane Valley deputies responded to reports of a male non-resident refusing to leave an apartment in the 7400 block of East Fourth Avenue.

According to Corporal Gregory, SCSO deputies identified the suspect as Isaac J. Tucker, 21, who had an active felony warrant from the Washington State Department of Corrections (DOC) after reportedly escaping community custody, and had previously faced an assault charge.

After Tucker was uncooperative and remained inside the apartment, the SWAT team and Crisis Negotiation Team were called to the scene for assistance.

Multiple attempts at communication with Tucker were unsuccessful. A search warrant for the apartment was obtained and SWAT team personnel breached the door, while continuing to advise Tucker to surrender.

The suspect, barricaded in the apartment bathroom, refused to surrender, prompting SWAT personnel to deploy chemical irritants.

Tucker eventually surrendered and was taken into custody without further issue at approximately 4:10 p.m.

Corporal Gregory stated that once he is medically cleared, Tucker will be booked into the Spokane County Jail on the charges stemming from his DOC warrant. Gregory added that the incident remains under investigation, and additional charges may be filed.
