SPOKANE, Wash. – Detectives from the Spokane County Investigative Unit (SCIU) identified and arrested a suspect in connection to two recent construction site burglaries.

The first incident was reported on May 7, taking place in North Spokane County. According to the Spokane County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), the suspect stole more than three thousand dollars worth of new lumber, OSB sheets and a large amount of lap siding from the business.

The second incident was reported on May 27, taking place in Spokane Valley. According to the SCSO, the suspect cut a fence and disabled cameras, causing nearly one thousand dollars in damages, before stealing roof underlayment with an estimated value of three thousand dollars from a business.

The SCIU identified the possible suspect as Shawn C. Wallwork, 49. Investigators developed probable cause to arrest Wallwork for two counts of theft and two counts of burglary.

On June 2, Wallwork was arrested in a traffic stop and his car was seized as evidence.

While Wallwork was in custody, SCIU detectives executed a search warrant at his residence and a job site near East 7th Avenue and Sherman Street.

Wallwork was booked into the Spokane County Jail for two counts of burglary, and two counts of theft. He is also facing charges from his previous arrest in May of 2024, including theft, possession of stolen property and trafficking in stolen property.

The total bond for all his charges has been set at $20,000.

Friday afternoon, SCIU detectives connected Wallwork to additional burglaries at a business near East Francis Avenue and North Florida Street. The business reported an estimated $13,104 worth of construction materials stolen by Wallwork, as well as an estimated $2,343 in damages caused to the business’s fence.

Wallwork now faces additional charges of burglary, malicious mischief and theft, after detectives connected him to the other burglaries.

Checking Wallworth’s criminal history, the SCIU determined that he is a 27-time convicted felon, with an extensive history of theft-related crimes.
