Suspect appears in court after hit-and-run leaves pedestrian injured in Spokane

The man suspected of a hit-and-run incident on Tuesday made his first court appearance Wednesday.

He is facing charges of vehicular assault and hit and run.

The victims’ injuries are reported to be non-life threatening. However, they did suffer brain and abdominal bleeding.

Spokane Police Department said the driver fled the scene after the incident. Witness testimony played a crucial role in helping officers locate the suspect.

He is currently held in Spokane County Jail with a bond set at $50,000.

According to police at the scene of the incident, the pedestrian, an adult male, is currently in the hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities report that the man was hit by a car travelling north on Cincinnati Road.

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) is investigating a hit-and-run incident involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Tuesday evening. The collision occurred near the intersection of Wellesley Avenue and North Cincinnati Road.

Officer Daniel Strassenberg from the SPD Public Information Office said the incident was reported around 4:39 p.m. The driver involved reportedly fled the scene.

Strassenberg noted that the pedestrian has been transported to a local hospital.

Drivers are urged to avoid the area as an open investigation is being conducted into the incident.
