Feeding America reported that around 250,000 children in Washington state experience food insecurity during summer.
The Sun Bucks program is working to address this issue by providing additional EBT support to replace the crucial meals children receive at school.
Children aged eight through 18 in households receiving SNAP benefits automatically qualify for the program. Eligibility also extends to those who receive free or reduced lunch or meet certain income requirements.
Families who do not automatically qualify have the option to apply by submitting a Sun Bucks application through DSHS.
