The Stud Horse Fire in Okanogan County remained within its existing footprint overnight, destroying four outbuildings but sparing homes, officials reported.
The fire, located east of Winthrop, has burned 550 acres with only five percent containment, according to the National Interagency Fire Center. Okanogan Emergency Management announced the closure of the Red Cross shelter at Liberty Bell Elementary School.
Evacuation levels for the area have been updated. Level three evacuations are still enforced for residents on Stud Horse Mountain, from Pearrygin Lake side halfway down the Winthrop side, to Davis Lake, Sunflower Lane and Bear Creek Road. Level two evacuations remain in place for residents south of Davis Lake to Balky Hill Road.

At the request of Okanogan County Fire Chief Cody Acord, state fire assistance has been mobilized to assist local fire crews in battling the Stud Horse Fire. Washington State Patrol Chief John Batiste reportedly authorized the mobilization around 8 p.m.
The fire is currently estimated to be 500 acres in size, and continues to grow, threatening homes and infrastructure in the area.

Level 3 evacuation orders have been issued for Sunflower Lane and Upper Bear Creek Road, according to Okanogan County Emergency Management.
Residents in this area should evacuate immediately.

WINTHROP, Wash. — A Level 3 “Go Now” evacuation order has been issued for the area around Stud Horse Mountain due to an active wildfire.
According to Okanogan County Emergency Management, the evacuation order affects the region from the Pearrygin Lake side halfway down the Winthrop side, as of 4:30 p.m.
Residents are urged to evacuate immediately to the north, away from the fire. Officials stress that this may be the only warning issued and advise against waiting for door-to-door notifications.
Emergency crews are responding to the scene, and residents are urged to exercise caution. Emergency Management will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as needed.
