COEUR D’ALENE, Idaho – The downtown Coeur d’Alene street fair, known for its vibrant mix of food, art and music, featured a special booth raising money for a cause still close to many hearts.
Taking place on Sherman Street, the fair, presented by ICCU, has 250 vendors offering everything from art to food. Among the vendor tents, the Eagles booth stood out for its focus on giving back to the community.
John Sobral, Vice President of Eagles, explained the purpose behind their efforts.
“All of our sales are going to the Red and Blue Foundation. So that way it gets distributed to the… for the firefighters,” Sobral said. He emphasized the ongoing commitment to supporting those affected, including firefighter David Tysdal, who is still fighting.
The Eagles Club has played a central role in local fundraising efforts following the deaths of two firefighters on Canfield Mountain. The booth features shirts designed in-house, displaying a firefighter emblem and a tribute to fallen heroes.
“So this is a booth for the Eagles Club… what we’re doing today is — and through the weekend — is selling t‑shirts and hats. We’re giving all the money to the firefighter fund, the Red and Blue Fund,” Eagles member Laurie Sobral said.
The sense of community solidarity was echoed by local resident Brittany Burgett.
“We all come together in times of need… and it’s just a great community,” Burgett said, noting the recent challenges faced by the community.
Adding a musical tribute, Sandpoint violinist Max Reid performed at the fair.
“After something like that, a lot of people want to be able to find a reason to look to the brighter side,” Reid stated.
The street fair and Art on the Green continue through Sunday evening, offering attendees a chance to support a healing community by visiting the Eagles booth on Sherman Street. Every shirt and hat sold contributes to the ongoing support for local firefighters.
