SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Deputies responded to an Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) alert about a stolen license plate, leading to the arrest of two convicted felons, Spokane Valley Police (SVP) said in a release.

On November 2, a Spokane Regional Emergency Communications Officer alerted deputies about the stolen plate seen on a Honda Pilot. The vehicle was found in a parking lot in the 15700 block of E. Broadway Avenue.

Deputies identified the suspects, who attempted to flee. During the pursuit, investigators said the suspects both discarded loaded handguns, which were later recovered.

The suspect, both convicted felons and not legally allowed to possess firearms, were taken into custody and booked into jail on various charges, SVP said.

Investigators said they learned that the pair had been arrested previously on October 5, 2025, for firearm-related charges and burglary. They were released on their own recognizance the following day.

Witnesses provided statements that helped deputies locate a loaded .22 caliber revolver and a pink Glock 9mm pistol discarded by the suspects. Both firearms were not reported as stolen.

The suspects were charged with possession of a stolen motor vehicle, unlawful possession of a firearm, and other offenses. Both were taken to the hospital for evaluation after claiming to have ingested drugs. Investigators said they located a small baggie of meth.

Deputies seized the Honda Pilot for evidence after learning it had been stolen, the release added.
