State Route 231 reopens after crash involving bicyclist near Ford

FORD, Wash. – Roads reopened Tuesday evening on State Route 231 after a crash involving a car and a bicyclist that left the cyclist in critical condition.

The Washington State Patrol reported the incident occurred about a mile south of Ford. The road was fully blocked for around an hour, with detours set up at Wellpinit Road and Corkscrew Canyon Road.

According to authorities, the bicyclist crossed into traffic from the west side of the road to the east side.

The driver reportedly attempted to swerve out of the way but clipped the bicyclist.

The injured cyclist was flown to Sacred Heart in critical condition.
