AIRWAY HEIGHTS, Wash. – Residents in Airway Heights have a unique opportunity to save on their grocery bills. Tens of thousands of free potatoes are available for anyone to pick up.
The potatoes are located at the corner of Sprague and Ritchey.
These surplus potatoes come from the Hutterites, a small colony similar to the Amish or Mennonites. Last year, the group offered a similar gift to the public.
The average American consumes about 110 pounds of potatoes annually, though it’s unclear how much of this might come from large free potato piles.
