SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Parks and Recreation is moving forward with a significant project in the North Indian Trail neighborhood.
The project aims to enhance the southern half of Meadowglen Park, a 30-acre undeveloped city-owned property located on North Indian Trail Road. This initiative is part of efforts to improve community spaces in the growing neighborhood.
Officials from Spokane Parks and Recreation reported that the project design is approximately 60% complete. Planned improvements include basic park amenities such as a playground, restrooms and picnic areas.
The park will also feature up to 5,000 feet of walking and biking trails. These trails will provide opportunities for exploration and outdoor activities.
Based on public feedback, the plan includes spaces for pickleball, sand volleyball and bocce ball. These additions aim to cater to a variety of recreational interests within the community.
To ensure accessibility, the park will have a 64-stall parking lot and a nearby bus stop. This will give locals easy access to the new amenities.
The estimated cost of the project ranges from $7.5 to $8 million. Approximately half of the funding comes from federal and state grants.
