SPOKANE, Wash. — Public safety and homelessness continue to dominate voter concerns in Spokane, but taxes and cost of living are emerging as significant priorities, according to new survey data released Tuesday.
Greater Spokane Inc. published results from The Pulse voter survey conducted in April 2026.
Optimism increased by 7% since fall 2025, but 68% of voters have considered moving out of the area due to taxes and trust issues. Only 26% believe local government has a plan to address critical issues.
The survey found 56% say prohibiting camping on public rights of way has had significant impact. Voters want balanced public safety approaches combining treatment services and justice system engagement.
Economic development remains a priority, with 84% saying easier business startup would impact quality of life. Support for public infrastructure investment remains strong at 76%.
“The Pulse gives us a clearer read on what voters are prioritizing right now, and where we need to respond,” said Alisha Benson, CEO of Greater Spokane Inc.
