SPOKANE, Wash. – The Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs has acquired 41.5 acres of land in Spokane for a new Veterans Home Campus. This acquisition, finalized on November 3, 2025, represents a significant step in replacing the existing Spokane Veterans Home.

Tim Kestell of Kiemle Hagood facilitated the sale of the land, known as the Fairmount Memorial Land. The property is strategically located near the Mann-Grandstaff VA Medical Center, Dwight Merkel Sports Complex, and the former Joe Albi Stadium site.

The new campus will focus on creating a next-generation long-term care and support environment for veterans. The project aims to enhance, expand, and modernize services for the local veteran community.

State lawmakers had previously approved funding for this land purchase earlier this year. With the acquisition complete, the project will now move into design, engineering, and site preparation phases.

The development is expected to bring significant investment to the Spokane area, along with construction activity and healthcare-related job opportunities.

Further public announcements regarding the project milestones are anticipated as the Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs continues to work on the facility’s final design.
