SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Spokane Valley leaders are assessing the impact of updates to the city’s homeless outreach program, focusing on how effectively it meets community needs.
The city’s outreach team contacted an average of 323 people each quarter over the past year.
According to an administrative report on the city council’s agenda, the team successfully placed 50 people in permanent housing and 43 in shelters.
The same documents revealed that the team visited nearly 800 camps throughout the year. From these interactions, the report indicated there were only 58 citations or arrests.
Tonight, the Spokane Valley City Council is set to review these numbers, along with homelessness trends and challenges facing the city.
