SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – A man accused of breaking into a home and assaulting deputies made his first court appearance today.
Guillermo Gutierrez-Ortiz, 31, faces charges of burglary, malicious mischief and assault. The incident occurred yesterday morning at a home near 5th and McKinnon.
According to the Spokane Valley Police Department, Gutierrez-Ortiz reportedly entered the home before climbing onto the roof. Damage to the property is estimated at about $6,000.
During his arrest, Gutierrez-Ortiz allegedly assaulted four deputies and reportedly bit an officer twice.
He is scheduled to return to court on July 8.
