
SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – The Spokane Valley City Council voted to elect Councilmember Laura Padden as the new mayor of Spokane Valley and Councilmember Tim Hattenburg as deputy mayor on Tuesday.
Both will serve in their new positions for 2026 and 2027, according to a press release from the city council.
“I am passionate about the Valley and honored to serve as your mayor,” Padden said. “I am committed to a Spokane Valley that is a safe, clean, affordable city in which to live, work, play, and raise a family.”
Padden is in her second four-year term on the city council. She also works as a software developer for the Community Colleges of Spokane.
Hattenburg, a native resident of Spokane Valley, is also serving his second term of four years on the council.
“[Hattenburg] is a published author, small business owner and a retired teacher, coach and athletic director with the Central Valley School District,” according to the press release.
