Spokane Valley City Council approves $148 million budget for 2026

SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – The Spokane Valley City Council approved a 2026 budget of $148.4 million on Tuesday, with councilmembers voting 6-1 in favor of adopting it.

The budget for 2026 includes $70.6 million in the general fund and $77.8 million distributed “in 30 other city funds” according to a press release from the City of Spokane Valley.

$47.9 million of the total budget is from capital expenditures, of which 71.25% is funded by grants from the state and federal level, the city said.

The budget, which will be in effect from January 1, 2026 to December 31, 2026, increased funds toward public safety by 11.85%, which includes $2.6 million from the new safety sales tax approved by Spokane Valley voters in August.

The city said the full budget is expected to be available online by January 2, 2026.
