SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Transit Authority has launched a new reduced fare option for low-income riders called ‘Opportunity.’
The pilot program offers one-dollar bus fares, which is half the standard cost. It is set to run for up to two years or until it reaches its funding cap of $1.14 million.
To qualify, riders must have an income at or below 200 percent of the federal poverty level and be enrolled in Washington’s Basic Food Program.
Opportunity users will benefit from fare-capping, ensuring they won’t pay more than $2 a day or $30 a month when using a Connect Card.
Applications can be submitted online or in person at the STA Plaza.
