SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Transit Authority (STA) Board of Directors has moved forward with Karl Otterstrom in their search for a new Chief Executive Officer. This decision follows the retirement of former CEO E. Susan Meyer in December 2024.
The STA CEO Search Task Force recommended Otterstrom after conducting interviews at their meeting on May 30. This aligns with the STA board’s hiring process set in February 2025, which outlines narrowing finalists to one to three candidates for further engagement.
Next month, STA will hold a forum where community stakeholders can meet Otterstrom and provide feedback to executive recruiting firm KL2 Connects. This feedback will be shared with the Board. Employee forums and an interview with Otterstrom by the Board will also take place before any final decision is made.
This process ensures that the community and STA employees have a voice in the decision-making for the new CEO.
