SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane is gearing up for its 10th annual World Refugee Day celebration on Saturday.
This event, organized by Refugee and Immigrant Connections Spokane, will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Pergola Events Center in Northwest Spokane, near Gonzaga Preparatory School.
World Refugee Day, established by the United Nations in 2001, honors refugees worldwide.
The coordinator of the Spokane event emphasized the significance of this year’s celebration.
“At the time that we were living in right now, we very much need a day of celebration, just like that, so that everybody feel belong, especially in Spokane,” coordinator September Htoo said. “And I think this event does an amazing job of getting every culture together.”
Attendees can enjoy a variety of offerings, including food from Feast World Kitchen, crafts, music and more
