SPOKANE, Wash. – The teenager charged with killing Spokane community leader Sarah Doxey pleaded guilty to all charges in court Wednesday.

The teen for vehicular manslaughter, vehicular assault, failing to remain on scene and driving without a valid license and pleaded guilty to all counts.

The charges came after the teen while she was jogging near Manito Country Club.

Doxey was the Chief Operating Officer of CHAS Health and a member of the Spokane Swifts, a local women’s running club.

Several family members and friends of Doxey spoke at the teen’s Wednesday court appearance.

One of Doxey’s friends appeared and said she had made eye contact with the teen before he ran away from where Doxey was killed.

The teen said they had done counseling. Their mom spoke as well, saying she was heartbroken for Doxey’s family and she believed her child can change and grow for the better.

The judge said if the teen had been a few months older, they would be sentenced to about 102-136 months for a felony.

Instead, the teen was sentenced to confinement in the state juvenile detention facility and the standard sentencing range, from 30 to 80 weeks, was imposed. The judge stated this is because juvenile sentences focus on rehabilitation over punishment.

In accordance with state law, officials within the Washington State Department of Children, Youth and Families will decide the exact length of the teen’s sentence.
