SPOKANE COUNTY, Wash. – Spokane Superior Court is celebrating a significant milestone with the 25-year anniversary of its Guardianship Monitoring Program. Established to protect vulnerable individuals from abuse, neglect and exploitation, the program has been a model for other counties.
The court will host a celebration on December 4, 2025, from noon to 1 p.m. in the Jury Assembly Room on the third floor of the Courthouse Annex. The public is invited to attend and learn more about the program.
Judge Rachelle Anderson expressed pride in the program, saying, “We are so proud of the work our Guardianship Monitoring Program does. Our program was the first of its kind in the state and has been a model for other counties to follow. Twenty-five years is a major milestone, and with the help of the community and ongoing volunteers, we hope to continue this important work for years to come.”
The program relies on trained volunteers who assist in monitoring guardianships and conservatorships. These volunteers act as the court’s eyes and ears to help detect or prevent abuse and exploitation. The program continually seeks volunteers to serve as records researchers and financial auditors.
Those interested in volunteering can contact the Guardianship Monitoring Program.
