SPOKANE, Wash. – The City of Spokane, City of Spokane Valley and Spokane County have teamed up to tackle homelessness through a new interlocal agreement (ILA).
According to a joint release, the new ILA will set a framework for shared planning, data collection and funding strategies. Key components include coordinated planning, community outreach and inclement weather response.
The agreement also emphasizes joint execution of the annual Point-In-Time Count and the distribution of homelessness grant funds.
“By continuing to collaborate, we can make more efficient use of public dollars and improve outcomes for people experiencing homeless(ness) in our communities.” Spokane Mayor Lisa Brown said in the release.
Spokane Valley Mayor Pam Haley echoed this sentiment, saying, “This collaboration will allow us to pool our resources to coordinate planning efforts and establish priority interventions to meet the needs of our community.”
