SPOKANE VALLEY, Wash. – Spokane Valley Police and Spokane County Sheriff’s Deputies (SCSO), with the help of Spokane Regional Air Support Unit’s Air 1, arrested a suspected impaired driver on the Centennial Trail.

Video shared by the SCSO from Air 1 on July 5 shows deputies tracking the suspect’s vehicle and deploying spike strips near the 11700 block of E. Coyote Rock Drive.

Despite the spikes deflating the tires, the suspect continued driving slowly allowing deputies to intercept and detain her safely.

Investigators said the woman, appearing unsteady and emitting an alcohol odor, was arrested for DUI after a breath test showed a BAC level well over the legal limit.

She was booked into Spokane County Jail for DUI and Reckless Driving.

The following day, the judge ordered her release on her own recognizance, SCSO said in a release.

Nonstop Local typically does not name suspects until they are formally charged.
