SPOKANE, Wash. – The City of Spokane’s 2025 road construction season is about to get underway.
Despite the busy schedule, the city said in a release that impacts will be less significant than in previous years.
One major project is on Sunset Blvd. between S. Cannon St. and S. Government Way. Starting Monday, May 12, and ending Tuesday, May 27, drivers can expect lane reductions and slow traffic. Alternate routes like I-90 or W. Riverside Ave. are recommended.
Another project focuses on traffic calming at 13th Ave. and S. Grand Blvd. This includes pedestrian improvements and a rapid flashing beacon. Work begins May 12 and is set to finish by May 20. 13th Ave. will be closed from Grand Blvd. to Division St., with slowdowns on S. Grand Blvd.
Additionally, Cedar St. at 12th Ave. will see closures to northbound traffic and the installation of a pedestrian refuge island. This project starts Tuesday, May 13, and is expected to end by June 3.
Drivers are encouraged to plan ahead, allow extra time, use detours and slow down for safety.
