Spokane resident assaulted during home burglary in South Hill

SPOKANE, Wash. – A woman returned to her apartment in the South Hill area to find an intruder on January 15, 2026. The Spokane Police Department reported the incident happened just before 7 p.m. in the 5000 block of South Palouse Highway.

Upon confronting the unknown man, the resident was assaulted. She suffered minor injuries. The man fled through a bedroom window before police arrived.

Officers rushed to the scene, setting up a perimeter to locate the suspect with assistance from a K9 unit and the Air Support Unit. Despite these efforts, the suspect remains at large.

The suspect is described as a white male with blue eyes and blonde eyelashes, standing between 5-foot-6 and 5-foot-10 with a heavy build. He wore a black ski mask and a red hoodie with a white “fleur de-lis” emblem.

The weapon used in the assault is described as having a curved steel blade with a black and red handle.
