SPOKANE, Wash. – Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall confirmed that officers used foam projectiles and bean bags during Wednesday’s protests.

“I want to be clear – these are classified as less-lethal tools and are not rubber bullets,” Hall stated.

These tools were reportedly used as a response to assaultive behavior from protesters, and Hall claimed the deployment of the less-lethal tools were in compliance with Spokane police use-of-force guidelines.

“I want to acknowledge that I did not have this information available during Wednesday night’s press conference. I shared what I knew at the time, and I regret not being able to give a more complete picture in that moment,” Hall added.
