
POKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department (SPD) has announced a new process for releasing video summaries following critical incidents. This update aims to enhance transparency and public trust.
Starting with the , SPD will release narrated video summaries, including 911 audio, radio recordings, and body-worn camera footage. These summaries will be made available as soon as legally permissible.
The incident on January 24 involved a domestic violence disturbance on East Sanson Avenue. Officers responded to a 911 call reporting threats and the presence of children. Upon arrival, officers heard screaming and entered the home. A male suspect was shot by an officer, and a second adult was also struck by gunfire. Both individuals received immediate medical attention and were taken to local hospitals.
Chief Kevin Hall emphasized the importance of this new process, stating, “We recognize the community’s need for answers during difficult events such as deadly uses of force.” He added that the department aims to build understanding and foster trust by sharing critical information responsibly.
