SPOKANE, Wash. — The Spokane Police Department is investigating a report of a weapon at Shadle Park High School today.
According to SPD, officers responded to two unrelated calls at Shadle Thursday.
The first call came in around 10 a.m. and was an unsubstantiated swatting call involving a gas leak, a bomb, and a shooter.
The second call happened around 11:30 and was about an altercation and report of a person with a gun.
Spokane Public Schools sent out a message to families at Shadle, Glover Middle School, and MAP saying the facilities were on lockdown around noon. The schools went into secure and teach about 15 minutes later.
In another message from SPS around 1 p.m., the district said the suspect was no longer believed to be in the area, but the schools would remain in secure and teach.
SPS lifted the secure and teach around 2 p.m. Students were dismissed as normal but there were more officers and campus safety specialists on-hand.
SPD says no injuries were reported and this is in active investigation.
This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
