Spokane police issue 123 infractions in traffic safety patrol

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Department Traffic Unit conducted a special Click It or Ticket patrol on May 22. The initiative aimed to promote safe driving and adherence to seatbelt laws.

During the eight-hour patrol, officers issued 123 infractions, according to a release from SPD. These included 24 speeding tickets, 17 cell phone violations, 33 seatbelt violations, and 22 violations for no insurance. Additionally, eight drivers were arrested for suspended driving, and one was arrested for lacking an ignition interlock device.

The department emphasized that this patrol highlights how many drivers operate unsafely or distracted on any given day. The Spokane Police Department Traffic Unit says they remain dedicated to ensuring the safe movement of all traffic, including vehicles, bicycles, and pedestrians, throughout the city. They encourage everyone to travel safely to ensure we all return home to our loved ones each day.
