SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Police Foundation hosted its 8th annual ‘Breakfast with the Chief’ event this morning, bringing together community members and law enforcement.
During the event, three new neighborhood resource officers were recognized. Spokane Police Chief Kevin Hall also delivered his first state of the department report.
Chief Hall shared his newfound appreciation for Spokane after relocating from Arizona. He discussed the importance of being good financial stewards of the department’s budget and highlighted some of the major issues facing the community.
He emphasized that Spokane does indeed have an issue with gun violence.
The chief also pointed to the department’s use of technology, such as Flock cameras and digital forensic labs, as essential tools in addressing Spokane’s challenges. He stressed the importance of community involvement in finding solutions.
“We are not going to fix any problems by ourselves. It has to be a partnership, we’ll take the lions share of the work, but we’ll never be successful without the support of our community,” Chief Hall stated.
He noted the incredible support from the Spokane community for the police department, saying it is unparalleled in his career. Chief Hall expressed his commitment to investing in the city for the long run.
