
SPOKANE, Wash. – Officers responded to a shooting at an apartment near Pacific and Division early yesterday morning, Spokane Police Department (SPD) said in a release.
Upon arrival, officers began life-saving measures on a man with a gunshot wound before he was transported to a hospital where he succumbed to his injuries shortly after arriving.
SPD said several witnesses at the scene provided crucial information which led to the arrest of a suspect later that evening in an apartment in the 500 block of West Sprague Avenue.
Officers obtained a search warrant, entered the apartment, and arrested Randy R. Chaparro, 33, without issue, SPD said.
Chaparro was booked into the Spokane County Jail for second-degree murder and a felony warrant from the Department of Corrections for probation violations.
