Spokane Parks and Recreation releases spring and summer activity guide

SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane Parks and Recreation has released its packed 2026 spring and summer activity guide, offering people numerous opportunities to enjoy the warmer weather and stay active in the coming months.

The guide was released two weeks ago and serves as a one-stop shop for recreational opportunities designed for people of all ages and abilities in the Spokane area. Some popular activities, particularly swimming lessons, are already filling up fast as residents prepare for the upcoming season.

“We have so much excitement. People are just excited for spring and summer weather. We see a lot of interest in swim lessons. We have also seen a lot of activity at our Corbin Arts Center camps,” said Fianna Dickson with Spokane Parks and Recreation.

The spring and summer guide is the department’s most popular seasonal guide. It offers an extensive variety of activities including sports leagues, guided hiking, kayaking and art classes.

The guide also emphasizes wellness programming like yoga classes and new Therapeutic Recreation activities.

One highlighted program is Dragon Flight Archery, featured in the camps section of the guide.

“We are all about introducing kids to archery, giving them a chance to try it out, try out different styles and then if they want to pursue it and try it out for a while, we have different avenues they can do that through our different programs,” said Eliza Jex, owner of Dragon Flight Archery.

Dragon Flight offers spring camps, several summer camps and introductory courses for those interested in learning archery.

The parks department emphasizes accessibility and ease of participation in their programs.

“We have a lot of entry-level programs. We provide the gear and the guides, you just show up and have fun,” Dickson said. “Our goal is always just to have people in the community active.”

Aquatic centers will start offering lifeguard training in May and open to the public immediately after school ends for the year in June.

The activity guide is available at grocery stores, convenience stores, libraries and community centers throughout Spokane
