SPOKANE, Wash. – North Central High School senior Alaina Gott achieved a remarkable sixth place at the 2025 DECA International Career Development Conference in Orlando, Florida. Her project, “The Access Replayer,” is an innovative AI-powered camera designed to provide real-time audio descriptions of sports events for blind and visually impaired individuals.
Alaina, who is visually impaired, shared her motivation: “I love sports. I’m an athlete myself,” she said. “But when I go to games, I find myself getting frustrated when I can’t find anyone to describe to me what’s going on. I designed this product to hopefully solve that problem someday.”
Competing against nearly 300 students worldwide in the Entrepreneurship Innovation Plan event, Alaina advanced through both preliminary and final rounds.
“It was an incredibly amazing experience,” Alaina stated. “It was awesome to meet people from across the world. I was proud to represent NC and just share ideas.”
DECA advisor Dempsey Ortega expressed his pride, saying, “She competed against the best across the globe and made her way to the top. We are so fortunate to say she is a part of the NC Wolfpack and Spokane Public Schools.”
Alaina plans to attend Gonzaga University this fall to study kinesiology and engineering management, aiming to create more inclusive products for athletes with disabilities.
