SPOKANE, Wash. – ZEV Co-op, in partnership with Urbanova, Avista and key supporters, is launching two new electric vehicle (EV) carshare hubs in Spokane. They are inviting residents to help decide the locations and types of vehicles that will be available.
According to a press release Thursday from Urbanova, the initiative was backed by funding from Washington’s Climate Commitment Act and the Washington Department of Ecology.
Urbanova emphasized that the expansion is “community-focused,” seeking to make transportation more affordable and sustainable.
“We believe the people who live and work in Spokane should help determine where these new carshare hubs go,” ZEV founder Greg Dronkert said. “This is about building a network that works for real people in real neighborhoods — and we can’t do that without community input.”
According to Urbanova, the proposed hub locations include Moran Prairie’s STA Park & Ride, MLK Jr. Center, Kendall Yards/West Central, North Spokane Library and the Thrive International partnership site with the Spokane Public Library.
Community members were encouraged to share what kind of EVs would be most useful, from electric sedans and ADA vans, to cargo bikes and small neighborhood vehicles.
All residents in the Spokane area can complete a survey to help select the final carshare hub locations and preferred vehicle types on the Urbanova website.
