Spokane nonprofit Our Place requests donations as service demand increases

SPOKANE — A Spokane organization that serves as a lifeline for thousands of families says it urgently needs donations as demand for its services continue to climb.

Our Place has served the Spokane community for decades, offering a comprehensive resource center for people in need. Visitors can access a food pantry, clothing, hygiene products and laundry services all under one roof.

“People can expect to get all of these things for free and we are low on donations so that is why we are reaching out to the people today to ask for help in all of the items,” said Tracie Swanson, executive director of Our Place.

Staff say demand for those services has increased dramatically. Over the last year, Our Place served just over 13,000 people — about a 20% jump from the year before.

The organization, located at 1509 W College Ave in Spokane, accepts donation drop-offs on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
