Spokane man sentenced to 25 years in prison for child sex abuse

SPOKANE, Wash – A Spokane man will spend the next two decades in prison, convicted of using access he had to small children to create child sex abuse materials.

A federal judge sentenced Christopher Scott Marsh to 25 years in prison, then a lifetime of supervision.

Federal prosecutors say Marsh’s girlfriend was caring for a baby and a toddler and that Marsh used that access to sexually exploit the children.

Investigators found the images and video on Marsh’s phone while investigating a domestic violence case.

Federal prosecutors say Marsh had been consuming child sex abuse materials for 14 to 20 years and “possessed a significant amount of illegal images and videos.”

Investigators say he also created sexually explicit videos by using the face of a child he knew and putting it on other sexual videos.

In his sentencing memorandum in federal court, Marsh said he was the victim of child molestation and was horrified that he did it to other children.

“I am regretful for what I did,” Marsh said. “I wish I could take it back. I have no desire to go down this path again.”

In addition to pleading guilty in federal court to production and attempted production of child pornography. He also agreed to plead guilty to child molestation in Spokane County Superior Court.
