SPOKANE, Wash. – A Spokane man, Troy Silk, was charged with setting multiple fires in the downtown area in August. He received an alternative sentence for reasons attributed to his mental health condition.

Investigators reported that Silk was using a lighter to look through a dumpster, which led to the flames igniting.

The judge in the case expressed belief in the benefits of the sentencing for Silk. He is required to continue mental health treatment while under the supervision of the Department of Correction.

Failure to comply with these requirements could result in Silk serving prison time.
