SPOKANE, Wash. — Spokane police arrested a man after he allegedly threw a puppy from a moving truck.
According to a Spokane Police Department (SPD) press release, officers responded around 12:40 p.m. Wednesday to reports of an argument between a man and a woman near 5000 North Wall Street. Police said that callers reported an altercation involving a woman in the back of a moving truck who was screaming.
During the 911 call, the woman was heard yelling that a puppy had been thrown from the moving truck. Police later confirmed that an approximately 11-week-old puppy was thrown from the truck.
Officers contacted the woman, who was transported to a local hospital. SPD said a neighbor called 911 to report they had the puppy in their possession. The puppy was not injured and was later reunited with its owner.
Following the investigation, SPD said that both individuals were taken into custody. The man was booked into the Spokane County Jail on suspicion of second-degree animal cruelty. The woman was arrested on suspicion of fourth-degree assault — domestic violence.
