SPOKANE, Wash. – The City of Spokane is set to begin two significant pedestrian and bicycle improvement projects in north Spokane starting Monday, June 30.
These projects aim to enhance safety and connectivity for pedestrians and cyclists.
The first project, focused on N. Lincoln St. between W. Boone Ave. and W. Sinto Ave., will see work underway through September.
Improvements include the addition of buffered and protected bike lanes, widened sidewalks, and a new traffic signal at Lincoln St. and Broadway Ave.
Motorists should be prepared for detours and slower traffic speeds as Lincoln St. from Boone Ave. to Sinto Ave. will be closed for the duration of the project.
Local residential access will be maintained, and businesses in the area will remain open. “Please make the extra effort to support those impacted,” the City of Spokane stated.
The second project will take place on Maxwell Ave. between Pettet Dr. and Walnut St. This project, supported by Washington’s Climate Commitment Act, includes new sidewalks, buffered bike lanes, and enhanced crosswalks to better connect the West Central Neighborhood with local parks and trails.
Work on Maxwell Ave. is expected to be completed by October. Drivers should anticipate speed and lane reductions in the area.
The City of Spokane encourages planning ahead and using alternate routes during peak traffic hours to minimize impact.
