SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Humane Society (SHS) alerted the public about a scam involving fake calls from their phone number, (509) 467-5235.
Scammers reportedly claimed that SHS had a lost pet needing emergency surgery and demanded money via Venmo.
“We will never do unauthorized medical care. We will never demand payment by Venmo/CashApp/etc. for medical services,” SHS officials stated.
They advised the public to “always hang up and call us directly to verify.”
