SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Housing Authority (SHA) has been awarded $7.48 million by the Washington State Department of Commerce for Chalice Place, an 85-unit affordable housing project in Spokane.

The project, located at North Wall and Country Homes Boulevard, will serve seniors and individuals with disabilities, offering housing for those earning less than 50% of the area median income, SHA said in a release.

A significant portion, $6.5 million, comes from the Housing Trust Fund to subsidize construction costs. An additional $980,550 from the Connecting Housing to Infrastructure Program (CHIP) will enhance the site’s water supply for high-density development.

SHA also announced that the Washington State Housing Finance Commission ranked Chalice Place second in the Metro Pool for federal 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credits for 2026. These credits are expected to attract private investment and foster a strong public-private partnership.

Construction is set to begin in fall 2026, with completion anticipated by spring 2028. The waiting list for Chalice Place is not yet open.
