
SPOKANE, Wash. – Mayor Lisa Brown ordered flags at all city facilities to be lowered to half-staff to honor victims of the .
This action aligns with President Donald Trump’s directive to lower all state and U.S. flags at state agency facilities.
“Spokane expresses its deepest sympathies and condolences to everyone affected by the devastating tragedy in Minneapolis,” Mayor Brown stated. “We join the nation in mourning those who have lost their lives in this senseless act of violence.”
Flags will remain lowered until sunset on Sunday, August 31, or early the following morning.
The public and business owners with flags outside their homes or businesses were encouraged to lower their flags in solidarity.
