SPOKANE, Wash. – Jose Efrain Gonzalez-Rodriguez, a 24-year-old from Mexico, was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison for drug trafficking and firearm charges.

According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Washington Gonzalez-Rodriguez, who was unlawfully present in the U.S., was part of a drug trafficking organization responsible for transporting drugs from California to Spokane and distributing them across Eastern Washington.

In May and June 2024, the DEA developed information about Gonzalez-Rodriguez’s activities, leading to a search warrant on his vehicle on June 24, 2024. Agents found nearly two pounds of methamphetamine and 6,855 fentanyl pills.

A search of his Spokane apartment revealed an additional 59,529 fentanyl pills, almost 3 pounds of methamphetamine, more than 1 pound of cocaine, heroin, and four pistols, two of which were stolen.

“Fentanyl is killing people across Eastern Washington. Those who traffic in this poison—along with other deadly drugs and illegal firearms—will be held accountable,” said Acting U.S. Attorney Richard R. Barker.

Gonzalez-Rodriguez will also serve five years of supervised release following his prison term.
